The local man killed in a long weekend highway crash has been publicly identified.
Robert James Leblanc, 58, from Bear Lake was the lone fatality in the incident.
According to spokeswoman Barb McLintock of the BC Coroners Service, "Mr. Leblanc was travelling southbound along Highway 97 when his car was involved in a head-on collision with an oncoming vehicle about 37 km north of Prince George. Despite resuscitation efforts, Mr. Leblanc was confirmed deceased at the scene."
The incident happened Saturday at about 4:30 a.m. close to the Salmon River bridge. The driver of the other vehicle in the crash was released from hospital with undisclosed but non-life-threatening injuries.
According to police, there are early indications of alcohol and speed being contributing factors in the crash but the investigation is still underway.
