Work on Highway 97 south of Prince George has earned an engineering firm an award.
Focus Corporation was presented with the award for design and contract preparation when the Consulting Engineers of British Columbia (CEBC) hosted the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure's Deputy Minister's Consulting Engineers Awards on Jan. 25.
It was for the company's work on four-laning 1.5 kilometres of the highway from Plett Road to Stone Creek Bridge and replacing the two-lane crossing with a four-lane bridge.
Focus put together a team that completed the conceptual and detailed design in less than five months so the project could be tendered in January 2010, which lead to construction being completed in 2011.
Focus Corporation and CMS Focus were also finalists, in the construction management and supervision services category for the project.
