UPDATE: Highway 97 open near McLeod Lake following motor vehicle incident

Highway 97 north of Prince George has fully opened.

Drive BC says traffic is moving in both directions after crews were able to clear a motor vehicle incident seven kilometres south of McLeod Lake late Wednesday night (April 3).

Details of the incident remain unknown at this time, including word of any injuries to the parties involved.

The road opened for single-lane alternating since opening before midnight before getting the official call for two-way traffic around 6 a.m. today (April 4).

8:30 p.m. (April 3)

If you're travelling north of Prince George this evening (April 3), you may need to turn around.

Drive BC is reporting a closure on Highway 97 in both directions seven kilometres south of McLeod Lake at the Haight Road intersection due to a motor vehicle incident.

Same goes for anyone heading south on the highway from the Peace Region as there's no detour at this time and the estimated time of re-opening is 3 a.m. Thursday morning (April 4).

There's no word on any injuries at this point, but a traffic analyst from Prince George is en route as per a Drive BC spokesperson.

Emergency crews are already on-scene trending to the situation.
