UPDATE: Highway 16 open after Prince George vehicle collision near Peden Hill

Highway 16 east traffic in Prince George is being diverted onto Vance Road by Costco after a vehicle incident closed the road.

Highway 16 is now open in both directions in Prince George following a vehicle collision this morning (April 26).

Yellowhead Road and Bridge (YRB) Fort George Ltd. says the stretch between Cowart/Vance and Range Roads is now clear heading westbound to College Heights as crews worked quickly to remove debris and damage.

YRB says one lane remains open heading east to Ferry Avenue, but should be clear for traffic soon.

It remains unknown, as of this publication, if anyone was injured in the incident, which was reported by RCMP after 9:30 a.m.

Prince George commuters are being diverted near Costco as a vehicle incident has completely closed Highway 16.

At the bottom of Peden Hill, traffic is being detoured at Vance Road after RCMP reported a vehicle incident between Vance Road and Range Road this morning.

A two-vehicle collision closed the stretch in both directions, Mounties said shortly after 9:30 a.m.

Drivers heading westbound on Highway 16 towards College Heights are also being detoured.

It's unclear if anyone was injured resulting from the incident.
