Catherine Ulrich was the highest paid employee at Northern Health but was still well down the list when compared to colleagues in health authorities across the province

In 2009-10, Ulrich earned $303,014 in remuneration and accounted for another $34,403 in expenses, making her the 127th highest paid of the 14,746 people in the health authorities sector, according to a database now available on the Vancouver Sun website.

The total differs slightly from numbers made available by the public sector employers' council through the B.C. Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General website, where Ulrich is listed as having earned $300,000 in base salary plus $31,208 in pension and $13,184 in other compensation for a total of $344,392. That's up from $302,904 for the same position in 2008-09.

Statements disclosing executive compensation in 2010-11 for health authorities, school districts, universities and colleges are expected to be available from the commission early next month.

Next highest paid at Northern Health, according to the Vancouver Sun, was David Butcher, the vice-president of medical resources, who was paid $274,882 in remuneration and accounted for $30,556 in expenses, making him the 195th highest paid among B.C. health authority employees.

Ronald Chapman, regional director of the Northern Cancer Program, took in $215,469 in remuneration and accounted for $25,732 in expenses, making him the 291st highest among health authority employees province-wide.

David Bowering, the chief medical health officer, earned $206,561 in remuneration and accounted for $10,574 in expenses, making him the 308st highest among health authority employees province-wide.

Michael McMillan, the chief operation officer for Northern Health's northern interior region, earned $203,043 in remuneration and accounted for $10,966 in expenses, making him 319th health authority employees province-wide.

University of Northern British Columbia

David Snadden, the vice-provost for medicine for the Northern Medical Program, topped the list at UNBC with $354,129 in remuneration and $24,443 in expenses. Province-wide, he was the 18th-highest paid out of 11,068 people in B.C.'s universities and colleges.

George Iwama, UNBC's president, earned $248,696 in remuneration and generated $109,811 in expenses, and was 147th highest paid among those working in B.C.'s universities and colleges.

Mark Dale, UNBC's provost, earned $197,935 in remuneration and had $22,708 in expenses and was 303rd highest paid among those working in B.,C.'s universities and colleges

William McGill, an ecosystem science and management (forestry) professor earned $180,563 in remuneration and accounted for $10,585 in expenses, making him the 420th highest paid in B.C.'s universities and colleges.

Eileen Bray, administration and finance vice-president, earned $176,094 in remuneration and $21,701 in expenses, making him the 420th highest paid in B.C.'s universities and colleges.

College of New Caledonia

John Bowman, CNC's president, earned $172,330 in remuneration and accounted for $14,111 in expenses, making him the 520th highest paid in B.C.'s universities and colleges.

Lorne Hamel, CNC's heavy duty mechanics instructor, earned $131,203 in remuneration and accounted for $555 in expenses, making him 1,580th highest paid in B.C.'s universities and colleges.

Catherine Wishart, CNC's community and student services vice-president earned $127,081 in remuneration and accounted for $5,979 in expenses and was 1,790th highest paid in B.C.'s universities and colleges.

Penny Fahlman, CNC's vice-president of finance, earned $126,568 in remuneration and accounted for $14,118 in expenses, and was 1,815 highest paid in B.C.'s universities and colleges.

Lynn Jacques CNC's vice-president for academics, earned $125,911 in remuneration and accounted for $11,307 in expenses and was 1,850th highest paid in B.C.'s universities and colleges.
