The B.C. Liquor Distribution Branch has released some sale numbers regarding in-store and online sales of cannabis.

As of Oct. 18, the B.C. Cannabis Store in Kamloops saw 1,326 transactions while the government-run website saw 11,738 transactions.

The high didn't last for long as British Columbia residents bought nearly 70 per cent less cannabis on the second day of legalization.

The numbers, broken by individual calendar day, are as follows:

Oct. 17

  • Online: 9,175
  • Kamloops store: 805

Oct. 18

  • Online: 2,563
  • Kamloops store: 521

The River City is the only B.C. municipality to have a government-run store. Plans for two more in Kamloops are in the works.
