On Halloween College of New Caledonia students will be in the community collecting food for the student food bank.

"Many students undergo financial burdens and debt while they work towards their post secondary education," said Laurel Lindstrom, chair of the CNC Student Union.

"Services like the campus food bank are in place to help students succeed in their studies and to assist them in times of need."

The union is asking for community support for their student-run campus food bank and will be trick or treating in the community to collect non-perishable food donations on Oct. 31.

Students, wearing student union T-shirts, will do a door-to-door campaign from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday to help fill the empty cupboards at the food bank.

"Not all neighborhoods will be visited, but community donations are welcome and can be dropped off at the CNC Students' Union room 1-303 at CNC," said Lindstrom.

The Students' Union is comprised of all students attending CNC's main and regional campuses, and has been active since 1978. The Union is also Local 13 of the Canadian Federation of Students, Canada's national students' union. For more information call 250-562-7415 or e-mail: chairperson@cncsu.ca
