The fire earlier this week on Helm Drive has been deemed a likely case of arson.
The home was recently occupied but after the fire was underway it was learned by authorities that no one was inside the residence and no one was reportedly made homeless as a result of the fire.
"After the fire was extinguished, fire investigators were able to determine that the fire was incendiary in nature and believe it to be an arson," said Prince George RCMP spokesman Cpl. Craig Douglass.
When asked if this fire bore any hallmarks of other suspicious fires in the city over recent months, Douglass said, "No, at this point this gives us no reason to believe it is associated to any other fires, and we do not think the safety of the public is at risk.
"That is our first concern. If we had indications that the public [was] in general or an individual was in danger in connection to this, then we would bring that to the public's attention."
It has not been disclosed who was most recently living in the home, or if a particular suspect was on the minds of police.
"Investigators are looking at all information and evidence and we will determine from there who needs to be spoken to, or what avenue the investigation needs to take," Douglass said.
The fire happened in the 6800 block of Helm Drive on Monday and was called in to firefighters at about 11:45 a.m.
