The Westwood Pub held its Puppy Pub Day on May 3 and raised $8,000 for the North Cariboo SPCA.

The event was a day-long event and featured a silent auction, 50/50 draw and a raffle, along with a barbecue, hockey shoot out, and a duck game. Staff kindly donated their time and wages for the day to help the cause.

Not only did the pub host the event, but matched the total raised to equal $8,000.

The local branch of the SPCA is very grateful for the Westwood Pub's efforts, said Jodi Boivin, assistant manager, North Cariboo SPCA.

"We could not be more grateful for all they have done to assist us in our mission "to protect and enhance the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia, specifically in Prince George."
