A man who was caught on camera stealing a wall-mounted heater from a local recycling depot has been sentenced to 15 months probation.

Wesley Eugene Mitchell, 37, was issued the term in Prince George provincial court on Wednesday for one count each of theft $5,000 or under and breach of an undertaking.

The term, which also included one day in jail, served by appearing in court, and $300 worth of victim surcharges, was also applied to a count of assault from an incident in February.

Following the theft from PG Recycling and Return-it Centre on April 7, the owner made public images from a security camera of Mitchell taking the heater off the wall and of the sport utility vehicle he was driving.

A count of taking a vehicle without the owner's consent was stayed as was a count of uttering threats and an additional count of assault, also from the incident in February.
