Harwin raising readers

One local school has found a new reason to love reading. Harwin elementary school was awarded a $60,000 grant, enabling it to support its literary initiatives. "This is a very exciting opportunity for our Harwin students," said principal Nevio Rossi.

One local school has found a new reason to love reading.

Harwin elementary school was awarded a $60,000 grant, enabling it to support its literary initiatives.

"This is a very exciting opportunity for our Harwin students," said principal Nevio Rossi.

The two projects benefiting form the Indigo Love of Reading Foundation funding are Community Literacy at Work, which focuses on young families from the community reading with students in a Parent Room; and Rally on as Readers, a school-wide Aboriginal-theme based reading program for improving student reading levels by focusing on comprehension, accuracy, fluency and vocabulary expansion.
