Cariboo-Prince George MP Dick Harris said will be fighting to push Taseko's $800-million Prosperity gold and copper mine forward, despite his Conservative government's rejection of the project over significant environmental impacts.

Harris said he has already begun work on a private members bill that would require the government to apply "equal weight and balanced consideration" to social and economic factors when considering projects such as Prosperity.

Harris' private members bill has the support of Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo MP Cathy McLeod.
