In Prince George residents have seen all kinds of Halloween weather.

It's snowed, it's rained, it's Chinooked.

Prince George residents want to know if this hauntingly hallowed eve will see ghoulish gales blowing those villains' capes and princess gowns, or maybe some eerily enveloping fog will help with the disguises, perhaps a splash of acid rain will sting the suffering souls or will it be a clear moonlit night perfect for tricking and treating?

As the Salem witches' coven might say, the burning question of the day is what is in the weather witch's brew for Saturday?

"It's a tricky forecast, hopefully it will work out to be a treat," said Doug Gillham, meteorologist from the Weather Network.

"The bad news is rain is likely on Halloween, may well even see wet snow mixed in but there is some good news, though - most of the rain and snow will fall in the morning and afternoon before the great candy collection time."

The rain will diminish to scattered showers for the late afternoon and evening, he added.

"So we can't rule out a passing shower but the heaviest and most widespread and steadiest of the rain will be over before trick or treat time," predicted Gillham.

Temperatures are close to where they should be, he added.

Usually it's 5 C and Saturday will see a high of 4 C during trick or treat time, Gillham said.

"The warmest Halloween on record was 15.6 in 1964 and the lowest temperature was in 1984 when it went down to minus 26.5 degrees," said Gillham.

"So, it really could be a whole lot worse."
