Expect delays of up to 30 minutes on Saturday for Highway 97 from Stone Creek to Williams Road, about 25 kilometres south of the city.
As part of widening the 3.7-kilometre stretch to four lanes, Telus will be moving its poles over to a new location on that day, said Kyle Webb of Windley Contracting Ltd.
Similar delays will be scheduled as the project progresses, with notices sent out in advance.
"There are some significant excavations and detours are going to occur, so there are moments when we'll need to alter traffic or shut the highway down for a small moment of time," Webb said.
A new bridge at Stone Creek will also be constructed and traffic will be stopped to allow the girders to be put in place.
Webb also encouraged drivers to check the DriveBC website from time to time.
"There will be lots of delay types through the next two years," he said.
