Someone sent a message on Moyie Street, Monday. It was sent down the barrel of a gun.

Nobody was apparently injured in the incident, but police believe the single blast was connected to local gang activity.

Police were called when neighbours heard the gun discharge at about 11:15 p.m. Mounties saw no one suspicious when they got to the area, but did locate "an unsecured residence" of interest, according to Prince George RCMP spokesman Cpl. Craig Douglass.

"Upon entering, officers located obvious signs that a firearm was used," he said. "After the premises was secured and further investigation, it was determined that a shotgun round was fired against an interior wall."

Witnesses told police that three male youths, all dressed in dark clothing and hoodies, entered the residence, the gun blast was heard, and the three were seen leaving within a minute.

Although no one was home, and neither the shotgun nor the culprits were located, police did find a small-caliber handgun and body armour.

Anyone with any information to help explain this incident is asked to call RCMP at 250-561-3300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS / www.pgcrimestoppers.bc.ca.
