A stash of firearms was seized from a suspected gang house in the city, police said Thursday.

A stash of firearms was seized from a suspected gang house in the city, police said Thursday.

A search warrant was executed March 6 on a 2300-block Noranda Road West home where police uncovered seven handguns, 11 rifles, six prohibited high-capacity magazines and about 2,000 rounds of assorted ammunition.

The raid was carried out by investigators from the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia's North District office with support from Prince George RCMP and North District RCMP dog services.

Over the course of looking into allegations that there was a home in Prince George where a number of guns were being hidden, investigators were led to believe the home may be association with Prince George-area gang members, according to a CFSEU-BC press release.

No was was in the home at the time and no arrests have been made but CFSEU-BC Sgt. Lindsey Houghton said the seizure "represents a significant blow to the capabilities of certain gang members in the Prince George area to cause fear or commit acts of extreme violence."

The handguns seized included a 9 mm. Glock semi-automatic pistol, a .40 calibre semi-automatic pistol, a .44 magnum revolver, and an M12 machine pistol with a silencer.

The rifles siezed included three SKS semi-automatic military-style rifles, two .22 calibre Mossberg semi-automatic rifles made to resemble M-16-type assault rifles, an AK-47-type semi-automatic military-style rifle, and a pistol grip shotgun.
