Two people were arrested after the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of B.C. uniform gang enforcement team uncovered drugs, guns, and a knife during a traffic stop on Friday.

Shayla Rae Crispin, 26, faces 16 firearms-related charges and Dylan Leslie Prince, 21, a 14.

Both remained in custody as of Tuesday.

In a statement issued Tuesday, CFSEU-BC said the arrest were made in the 2200-block of Norwood Street after members noticed a blue Mercury Marquis accelerating away from a police check in the area.

When a check of the license plate showed it was actually registered to a red Ford Taurus, polices moved in and stopped the car.

"In plain view, police located a spring assisted knife, a bag of an unknown substance believed to be street level drugs, and a baseball bat in the vehicle," CFSEU-BC said. "A further search of the vehicle yielded a loaded shotgun, a loaded .22 cal rifle, and ammunition."

Prince and Crispin have "lengthy criminal records," CFSEU-BC Staff Sergeant Lindsey Houghton said. "Thankfully, our officers were there to disrupt whatever activities they were up to by taking away their guns and drugs."

In August 2015, Crispin was sentenced to a nine-month conditional sentence and issued a 10-year firearms prohibition for careless use and improper storage of a firearm. She also scheduled to go to trial on a count of possession of stolen property under $5,000 in February.

Prince's record includes convictions for assault and disguising his face with an intent to commit a crime, theft $5,000 or under, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and willfully resisting or obstructing a peace officer.
