Williams Lake RCMP seized a firearm from a Springfield Road man after he threatened to kill firefighters if they continued to conduct back burning in the area.
RCMP decided against pursuing charges against the man, 44 years old, after he admitted to police he made the statements in a time of extreme stress.
The gun was seized on a temporary basis to reduce the risk.
The suspect was among a group of men, one of the others who was alleged to have been carrying a handgun on his hip.
That man, 57 years old, was arrested after RCMP found him in possession of a loaded, unsecured handgun ad six rifles in his vehicle. He has since been released with a court appearance scheduled for early November.
"We understand that tensions are running high, but we have to continue to pull together as a community to fight the fires in whatever way we can," Insp. Jeff Pelley said.
"The firemen and women have a job to do, as do we, we ask that continue to be patient as we work together with all of our partners to make your community a safe place to return to."
The incident was reported to RCMP on Tuesday.
