A total of 43 firearms were handed over during the recently-ended month-long gun amnesty, Prince George RCMP said Wednesday.
Broken down, RCMP took in 27 rifles, eight handguns and eight shotguns as well as thousands of rounds of ammunition. No unusual firearms or explosives were on the list.
RCMP also thanked the public for their cooperation.
"The removal of unwanted firearms is a way that gun owners and police can partner to keep the community safe" said Sgt. Todd Wilson, acting Operations Officer at the Prince George RCMP. "These are excellent results and we would continue to encourage the public to call the police for unwanted or found firearms."
The amnesty ended on Monday.
