A Prince George man pleaded guilty Monday to robbing a local gas station.

Jason Elliotte French, 27, was arrested July 17 after police were called to a report of a lone man entering the Central Street Husky shortly after midnight.

The suspect threatened the cashier with violence and then ran out the door with the cash register, but was arrested a short distance away while attempting to open the till, Prince George RCMP said at the time.

French, who pleaded guilty during an appearance in Prince George provincial court, will be sentenced at a later date once a pre-sentence report has been completed.
