The B.C. Court of Appeal has issued an online guide for those representing themselves.

Available at CourtofAppealBC.ca, the guide features:

- A section on civil and family law with two guidebooks to help users through every step of bringing an appeal to the court and responding to an appeal.

- A section on criminal law with links to two guidebooks that will assist users in appealing a conviction or a sentence.

- Links to court forms, a glossary of legal terms and a resources section that directs users to websites that can provide answers to some of their legal questions.

Last year, 22 percent of applications to the court , the highest in British Columbia, were from self-representing litigants.

The site was developed by the Justice Education Society in collaboration with the B.C. Court of Appeal with funding support from the Law Foundation of B.C.
