A Prince George man received a year in jail for running a marijuana grow-op in the city's north edge.
Gerald Robert Cunningham, 24, was issued the sentence last Wednesday in Prince George provincial court, 21 months after police stormed a home in the 13000 block of Chief Lake Road.
Cunningham was arrested at the scene and 150 marijuana plants were seized while Jason Dennis Townsend, 35, who police described as a former member of an outlaw gang, was arrested in a vehicle a short distance away.
The apprehensions were described as "high risk" at the time, and the road was closed for about a half hour while the emergency response team was called in to make the arrests.
Police said Townsend was found with a fully-loaded and prohibited semi-automatic assault rifle and he was charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order.
However, a stay of proceedings against those charges was issued Wednesday, meaning police have a year to come up with additional evidence or the charges will be dropped.
Cunningham also received a week in jail for breach of an undertaking or recognizance.
