On April 1, members of the Prince George RCMP's general duty section executed two search warrants on the 500 block of Alward Street. The warrants were a result of a marijuana grow-op investigation on adjoining halves of a duplex.
Initially, investigators were able to determine that a marijuana grow operation existed in one half of the duplex. A search warrant was obtained and executed and 308 marijuana plants and 45 pounds of dried marijuana were located in that side of the duplex.
While executing the first warrant, the investigators located a homemade doorway to the other half of the duplex which revealed more marijuana plants. Two valid Health Canada marijuana grow permits existed for the second half of the duplex, but far more plants were being produced than allowed. A second search warrant was obtained for the other half of the duplex. A total of 216 plants were located on this half of the duplex. The Health Canada permits were for 49 plants and 73 plants, for a total of 122 plants. The excess 90 plants were removed by police.
Charges of Production of a Controlled Substance are being recommended against a 20 year old female and a 32 year old male.
