Mayoral candidate Shari Green is taking steps to turn lemons into lemonade today - literally.

In response to a recent critical editorial in The Citizen entitled No lemonade from Green, the candidate put out an invitation to voters and media today to join her at her campaign office at Parkwood Mall on 15th Avenue today at noon for a glass of lemonade.

"The idea to open a lemonade stand cropped up after yesterday's editorial in the Prince George Citizen... squeezing Green over declining an invitation from CBC Radio for a live, one-on-one debate with only one other candidate," stated a press release.

"Ideally, elections are about issues and what each candidate stands for," stated Green in the release. "In my platform, I talk about being inclusive of everyone at the table, and I believe it is good democratic practice to invite all mayoral candidates and not just some to a public debate, regardless of who the perceived front runners might be."

Green has reportedly already issued an invitation to the community to meet for coffee at her campaign office during set times throughout the week, to discuss issues directly with Shari.

"The electorate has been very receptive to my commitments for a new style of leadership that values every candidate, and challenges every new councillor to work as a team to find more value for each taxpayer's dollar," said Green, adding she is not a sourpuss.

"I stand by my principles and decisions and I don't get sour about the outcomes."
