With the last week of summer approaching UNBC Active Minds wants to give the youth of Prince George, one last chance to become energy detectives.

The UNBC science and sports kids camp that has been running at the campus is about to launch its last themed week, It's Easy Being Green.

Inspired by the work done at UNBC to look for energy alternatives and study ecological issues, it runs from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2.

The first day features an activity called "energy detectives" where campers explore how different operating systems of the university use energy.

As the week progresses veteran experts will visit these same energy detectives and help them gain knowledge in their green case.

On Tuesday, Bruce Rogers from Forest Service British Columbia, will accompany the group on a hike hike to Shane Lake to explore the different ecological issues.

When they return, they will meet with senior lab instructor and expert in natural resource management, Lisa Wood and learn how trees can further a case for the planet in developing energy.

On Wednesday, BC Hydro representatives will help the group explore the different ways wind can power the world. That same afternoon, the energy detectives will be called in again to investigate where improper garbage has been placed in an activity labeled geo-trashing with senior lab instructor Scott Emmons, who is also an expert in mapping.

On Thursday, they will investigate the new bioenergy plant at UNBC and then in the afternoon explore garden basics with a representative from Public Interest Research Group .
