Experts are looking for antiques, collectibles, war memorabilia, jewelry and precious metals like gold and silver during the Great Canadian Roadshow at the Sandman Signature Hotel, across from the casino Thursday until 6 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Roadshow is also raising funds for the Heart and Stroke Foundation by asking participants to donate a portion of the money they get from selling their items, matching it and then the roadshow will match it as well.
The process to show items at the roadshow is very simple. When a person arrives at the show a greeter will give them a number. Then the person is seated with one of the experts who will review the items and assess market value based on an internal database of collectors. Hopefully they will then make an acceptable offer for the item.
Collectors in 2011 are searching for pre-1960 items.
War memorabilia, toys, vintage advertising signs, pocket watches, porcelain and bisque dolls, pretty much everything can be sold at the Roadshow. Any early edition Barbie's tend to be highly sought after, as well as a variety of Dinky Toys and Matchbox Cars. Tin toys in their original box and mint condition are also of interest.
