Grama Ruby Baptiste is looking to help her beloved granddaughter Destiny who almost froze to death on Dec. 18.
In Grama Ruby’s gofundme post she said ‘lucky someone's dog needed to go for a walk and the dog and owner found her’.
As a result of the incident, Destiny suffered hyperthermia and major frostbite and Grama Ruby is grateful Destiny survived.
Because of the extreme outdoor exposure Destiny experienced she had both legs amputated as well as a finger.
There have been many skin grafts and she’s always nauseous. Pain management is a daily battle, the post said.
Destiny’s life will change drastically as a result of this incident.
"I died and I came back a different person," Destiny said.
Grama Ruby said Destiny is the toughest young lady she has ever known.
“She is still in the hospital but wants to get ready for home so will require some help,” Grama Ruby said in the gofundme page request. “Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
On a bright note John Brink, local philanthropist, has offered to match the next $1,000 in donations to Destiny’s cause and encourages everyone to donate what they can to help ease the burden.
