The province is providing a one-time, $120,000 grant to support access to urgent dental care for low-income families.

There are 20 not-for-profit dental clinics, including Prince George's Emergency Dental Outreach Clinic, that will get $4,000 each. The majority of the $80,000 allotted to the clinics will be used to lower rates for those in need.

The remaining $40,000 goes to the BC Dental Association's Save a Smile program, supporting urgent dental care to children of families without dental-plan coverage.

Last year government provided dental services to about 137,000 people on income and disability assistance for a total cost of $58 miilion.
