After 15 years at the helm of the Aboriginal Business Development Corporation (ABDC), Ray Gerow is moving on.

Gerow, 51, wife Veronica and their youngest daughter, Melissa, are moving to Bella Bella at the end of September where he will become the chief executive officer of the Heiltsuk Economic Development Corporation.

It means Gerow will be "diving into" a number of businesses - the local airport, the post office, grocery store, gas station, a freight company, a logging company and a fish plant the community of 1,500 is trying to revive.

"I want to be able to focus my energies for awhile," Gerow said. "There is so much going on in this region [Prince George] that you end up getting all watered down in what you're doing so there [Bella Bella] will give us a chance to declutter our lives and get out of the rat race for awhile and focus all my energies on one small community and try to make a difference for it."
