Gas station robbery suspects appear in court

The man and woman arrested following an attempted robbery of the Shell gas station at 5th and Carney made an appearance in Prince George provincial court on Friday. Donald James Currie, 31, will remain in custody pending a bail hearing this week.

Donald James Currie, 31, will remain in custody pending a bail hearing this week. The next step for Samantha Lynn Banks, 22, was not immediately available.

Both face charges of robbery and Currie faces an additional charge of uttering threats.

Police apprehended a man Thursday at 6th and Victoria only moments after he used a knife to hold up the Shell gas station.

Police were able to get the jump because the station's attendant called the RCMP immediately upon seeing a man pulling on a balaclava while approaching the gas station. But police said it also turned out the vehicle he used in the getaway was owned by the attendant, and she was arrested as part of the investigation.

Police also found in the vehicle. a two-year-old child, who was put in the care of the Ministry of Children and Family Development, and a dog.
