A woman was sentenced to a six-month conditional sentence and one year probation for her involvement in the attempted robbery of a gas station 15 months ago.

Samantha Lynn Banks was issued the term in Prince George provincial court on Wednesday for a count of public mischief.

Donald James Currie had already been sentenced to 16 months in jail and 18 months for the Dec. 9 incident in which a witness saw a man pulling on a balaclava while approaching the Shell gas station at 5th and Carney and called police.

As a result, Currie was apprehended only moments later at 6th and Victoria. It turned out his getaway car was owned by Banks, the gas station's attendant.

Police also found a two-year-old child and a dog in the vehicle. The child has been placed in the care of the Ministry of Children and Family Development.

Originally charged with armed robbery after police seized a knife, Currie's conviction was downgraded to robbery and then theft $5,000 or under when he was sentenced Jan. 31.
