The 20th Avenue Petro-Canada gas station was the scene of an armed holdup this morning.
Police said a man wearing a blue stocking or a mask and wielding a butcher's knife made off with a small amount of cash and cigarettes at about 7:25 a.m.
He's described as five-feet, seven-inches tall with a slim build and wearing a black hoody and black baggy pants and white running shoes and carrying a white shopping bag which held the cigarettes and fled on foot, ducking into a nearby alleyway.
A tracking dog was called in but no suspect was found. Police are asking anyone who may have seen something suspicious to call Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) / www.pgcrimestoppers.bc.ca.
"The important thing would be that (at that time) it would've been light out somebody going to work might've seen somebody running who matches that description," said Prince George RCMP spokesman Gary Godwin. "I'm suspecting he just ran into the back of a house somewhere in that area."
