The David Douglas Botanical Garden Society is celebrating 30 years and may be best known as the host of the premier northern botanical garden in front of UN
The Phase 1 Education Display Garden has been completed and hosts residents for the sheer enjoyment of it and also as the location to commemorate life’s milestones with a photo.

The garden sits on 2.6. acres and is accessible, free and open to everyone year round.
The site includes the Alice Wolczuk Memorial Alpine Berm, the Ike Barber arched pedestrian bridge, the Novak Family Foundation waterfall, the Rotary Pavilion, the Lilac trail and connecting walking trails, which all provide the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the great outdoors.
The Weller Rose Garden was also developed and turned over to UNBC.
“Our volunteers work tirelessly to maintain the Education Display Garden not only weekly, but also through monthly work bees,” society president Linda Naess said.
“That isn’t all we do though. Our team is busy all year long organizing lectures and preparing for our seed and plant sales and so much more.”
The annual in-person plant sale goes from Friday through Monday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. by appointment only to adhere to the provincial pandemic restrictions now in place.
Each 30-minute booking is for a maximum of two people.
