Prince George Fire Rescue answered a call to a garage fire in the 700 block of Burden Street just before 6 a.m. this morning.
The garage was fully engulfed in flames, shooting high into the air.
Residents of the nearby home had been alerted to the fire by a passerby and were evacuating as fire crews arrived on scene. No one was hurt in the blaze.
The fire fighters' priority was to protect the home and crews were able to extinguish the flames quickly.
Fire fighters remain on scene to deal with hot spots.
The garage was completely destroyed and the exterior of the home has some fire damage.
Damage is estimated at about $40,000.
Fire officials will be on scene this morning conducting a fire investigation.
