The B.C. Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit's Uniformed Gang Enforcement Team is continuing to makes its presence known in Prince George.

Based in the Lower Mainland, members of UGET were in the city during Feb. 18-20 and over that time they made 193 stops and made contact with 346 people, most of them connected to the street-level drug trade, according to a CFSEU statement issued Tuesday.

UGET members also seized seven knives, one hatchet, two batons, two tasers, one machete, and eight rifles. CFSEU called the number of weapons seized "of concern."

"Taking these weapons off the street and out of the hands of those involved in the drug trade was vital to the UGET violence suppression efforts while in Prince George," CFSEU said.

Small quantities of suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl were also seized.

It was UGET's fifth visit to Prince George since September when there was spate of violent crime linked to a pair of rival groups in the city's drug trade.

Prince George RCMP briefed the team on local crime hot spots and provided up-to-date intelligence to help direct their enforcement activities, CFSEU said.
