Gang member arrested in alleged home invasion

An 18-year-old known gang member is facing charges, and another suspect is being sought in a violent home invasion involving two-masked men wielding a large edged weapon. On Jan. 16 at 9:24 p.m.

An 18-year-old known gang member is facing charges, and another suspect is being sought in a violent home invasion involving two-masked men wielding a large edged weapon.

On Jan. 16 at 9:24 p.m., Prince George RCMP received a call of a break and enter in progress in the 2800 block of Pine Street in Prince George. Officers attended immediately, and located and arrested a male exiting the residence.

A second male suspect eluded police, and no description of him was provided.

Officers believe the two masked men forcibly entered the residence, produced a large edged weapon in an attempt to locate one of the residents.

Three persons were in the residence at the time, but none were physically harmed.

Motive for the attack is not known, however it was a targeted attack and the accused and one of the residents are known to each other, said police.

Provincial Crown Counsel has approved charges of break and enter, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of undertaking against Jeffrey Austin Theriault, an 18-year-old resident of Prince George known to be a member of the Game Tight Soldiers street gang.

Theriault is scheduled to appear in Prince George Provincial Court on Feb. 1.

Prince George RCMP are looking for the public's help in identifying the second suspect.
