Prince George RCMP got some outside help last week in the ongoing effort against drug-related crime in the city.
Members of the B.C. Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit's Uniformed Gang Enforcement Team were in Prince George during Jan. 13-17.
Over that time 25 files were generated for weapons, drug trafficking and driving offences and with them, 28 people were arrested for various offences.
Weapons seized included knives, mace, replica guns, collapsible batons and quantities of suspected methamphetamine, fentanyl and cocaine were taken off the street.
It was the fourth time since September - when there was spate of violent crime linked to a pair of rival groups in the city's drug trade - that the team has been in the city.
“The Prince George RCMP appreciates the time and effort put in by the members of the UGET to assist in combating the drug trade in our city,” said Prince George RCMP Cst. Jennifer Cooper. “We want to send a clear message to those involved in violent conflict that we do not tolerate it in our city.”
