Slightly more than two weeks after escaping conviction on a separate incident, a Prince George man with ties to organized crime was sentenced this week to five months in jail for trafficking and firearms-related offences.

Peter Maclaurin Tunney, 23, was issued the term by provincial court judge Dennis Morgan on Thursday for occupying a vehicle in which there is a firearm, possession of a firearm contrary to an order and two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking from a Dec. 2009 incident.

On March 23, a long list of firearms related charges against Maclaurin and two others - Francois "Frankie" Meerholz and Albert Donald Piche - were stayed after Crown was unable to prove any of them had knowledge of a firearm found in their vehicle when it was pulled over in October 2009.
