The Northern B.C. Tourism Association has won an innovation award for the Northern B.C. Tourism Plaza, one of the attractions during the 2015 Canada Winter Games.

The award was presented during the B.C. Tourism Industry Conference in Vancouver this week.

Located in the Canada Games Plaza next to the Civic Centre, it drew more than 20,000 visitors over two weeks.

"The Northern BC Tourism Plaza was a highlight during the Canada Winter Games, providing visitors with the opportunity to learn more about the regions tourism experiences and culture," said NBCTA CEO Clint Fraser.

"It was a truly collaborative effort showcasing experiences from both the Northern BC and Cariboo Chilcotin Coast regions of the province.

"We feel honoured to have been recognized for our efforts provincially and would like thank our partners for helping us provide visitors with a truly remarkable northern experience."
