Gamers to gather in mini convention

Calling all gamers. This weekend is your time to shine. Don't get this confused with San Diego's massive Comic-Con.

Calling all gamers. This weekend is your time to shine.

Don't get this confused with San Diego's massive Comic-Con. While there may not be the Hollywood stars from your favourite genre series or a premiere of the latest video game, the Prince George MiniCon offers a haven for board, role play and interactive gaming.

The gaming convention will take over Grama's Inn (901 Central St. West) Oct. 15 and Oct. 16 for two full days of 19 games. For $10 per day, or $15 for the weekend, enthusiasts can take part in nine role-play games (RPG) per day, a boardgaming room and a live-action role play (LARP).

The convention is for players over the age of 13 and relies on the work of volunteers to bring it together. Organized by Matthew Amsel, this is the second such event in Prince George. The first was held earlier this March and featured a meet and greet to get to know other players and games, a Munchkin tournament and a handful of RPGs such as Dungeons and Dragons, Rolemaster, Star Frontiers and Robotech.

Doors are open from 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and costumes are welcome. For more information, find Prince George Mini-Con on Facebook.
