The first annual Big Brothers Big Sisters gala was a big success, say organizers.

On Saturday, the non-profit raised $7,000,which will all feed into mentoring programs in Prince George.

Dubbed The Big Gala, the organization rolled out the red carpet and greeted more than 150 guests with flash photography for a little taste of fame.

Cassie Lobban said the event at Hart Community Centre was an important support for kids in the community.

"It's a way community members can support the Big Brothers Big Sisters vision, that all children achieve their full potential in life," said Lobban, operations and event assistant at BBBS, in a press release.

"We know not everyone may be able to serve as a mentor for a child, but by attending events like The Big Gala, anyone can help start a child on the right path."

The organization is asking the community to mark April 1 next year in the calendar for the second annual event.
