Garage sale season kicks off this weekend with two major fundraising garage sales going this weekend.

The fifth annual fundraising garage sale, hosted by the Spiritkeepers for teams participating in the Canadian Cancer Society's Relay for Life, is set for Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Spruce City Stadium, located in Carry Jane Gray Park.

Household items, appliances and furniture will be available for purchase, while people can pick up treats at the bake sale, as well.

Since its inception, the garage sale has raised more than $25,000 that ultimately goes to support the Canadian Cancer society's cancer prevention strategies, research, and support of people affected by the disease.

The annual Relay for Life, held at Masich Place Stadium on May 11 and 12 from 10 a.m. to 10 a.m., is the only 24-hour relay in Canada and raised more than $490,000 last year.

The Nechako Rotary Club is hosting its second annual spring garage sale on Saturday and Sunday at Studio 2880. Proceeds from the sale go towards the Salvation Army's Mobile Crisis Response Unit. The sale runs Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 2880 15th Ave.
