Fuller descriptions issued for suspicious incident

Police have released further details describing the alleged victim and the vehicle of the suspect in a suspicious incident near the Massey Drive skate park on Monday afternoon.

The teenage girl witnesses said was picked up by the driver of the minivan is described as slender, 12-14 years old, about 5'2" tall with brown hair streaked with blue. Additionally, she was wearing a black and blue checkered shirt and carrying a black backpack with orange straps and a lightning bolt across the pack.

She was also seen walking along Massey Drive near the skate park between 12:45 and 1:30 p.m.

The minivan has been further described as silver or grey with tinted back windows and damage to the front and rear driver's side. The van's driver has been described as about 50 years old, 5'10" tall, with grey hair and scruffy facial hair. He was wearing a grey shirt with ripped jeans.

Concerned the girl may have been distressed when she was picked up, witnesses called police. She was picked up after the van stopped in the turn lane at the intersection of Massey Drive and Carney Street, police were told. The van was last seen heading north on Carney towards 15th Avenue.

RCMP have also asked drivers equipped with dash cameras who may have been in the area to provide any images that may help. And they're asking those involved to contact police.
