Manson Creek has a new postmaster.
Starting Monday, Lu McKone will take over the position on a full-time basis, ending months of uncertainty about whether Canada Post will allow the service to continue in the small community 185 kilometres north of Fort St. James or move it to Germanson Landing.
When she learned of Canada Post's plan to move the service, the previous postmaster, Dianne Dyck, postponed her retirement for five months and her union, the Canadian Postmasters and Assistants Association, filed a grievance.
The service will also be moved out of the old Wolf Ridge General Store and into the new Omineca General Store at the McKones' residence, Dyck's husband, Victor, added Tuesday in an e-mail confirming McKone's appointment.
