A Fort St. James man who was found behind the wheel of a stolen pickup truck by a policing unit focussed on clamping down on auto crime was sentenced Wednesday to 324 days in jail.

David Arthur Juillette, 35, must also serve two years probation and was prohibited from driving for one year for driving while his driver's licence was suspended under the Motor Vehicle Act.

The jail term and probation, plus a 10-year firearms prohibition, was also applied to three counts related to the discovery of three rifles in the vehicle.

Both the truck and the guns had been stolen in Fort St. James, according to police.

He was arrested in Prince George on July 29, 2019 by members of the B.C. Integrated Municipal Provincial Auto Crime Team who happened to be in the city at the time, after the truck was first spotted in the 1500 block of Endako Street.

Juillette remained in custody for 107 days following the arrest.

Juillette was also sentenced to no further time in jail for two counts of breaching and undertaking or recognizance, committed on Nov. 19. He remained in custody for 47 days on that matter.
