Today is a fresh day at UNBC. The food industry will be depicted at a screening of the documentary Fresh at 6 p.m.
"The film centres on our current food economy and how it relates to food security, the livelihood of small farmers and our choices as consumers," said Serena Black, project co-ordinator for a film series based at UNBC, of which Fresh is the first. All will focus a lens on the industry of food and agriculture.
"It's great to have the opportunity to bring in a film to facilitate discussion around global food systems and their connection to our local community in Prince George," said Black. "Come join in the conversation and learn more about the impact you have as an individual in the food economy."
Food: Global to Local Film Series is, said Black, "intended to create awareness in the community about local food sourcing and the current structures in place that affect small-scale farmers."
Fresh is being hosted by PG Public Interest Research Group (PGPIRG) and is being sponsored by the Canadian International Development Agency, British Columbia Council for International Cooperation and the Global Neighbourhood Network.
