People looking for a home to rent can now take a no-cost online course to help them make the right decisions when it comes to choosing and securing a place.
Renting it Right! is designed for first-time renters, those who've never rented in B.C. and those who lack recent references.
Participants will learn how to assess their needs and preferences, from understanding rental expenses to creating a budget to thinking about unique requirements.
The course also shows how to search for rental housing and submit a strong application, what signing a tenancy agreement entails and how to properly move in.
Those who pass the final exam will earn a certificate to present to landlords.
Part one of the course, now online, shows prospective tenants what they need to know before moving in. Part two, which is not yet up, will cover the basics of a tenancy from start to finish.
The course has been launched by the Tenant Resource and Advisory Centre and the Justice Education Society and has won an endorsement from LandlordBC.
Renting it Right is available free at www.RentingItRight.ca.
