Fraser-Fort George regional district residents could see lower taxes in 2023

While the average increase in property assessments across the region was 11.76 per cent, regional district taxes per $100,000 of residential assessment have decreased in all municipalities and electoral areas for 2023.

The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George board approved its 2023 operating budget Thursday, which could lead to some residents receiving lower tax bills than last year, depending on their most recent property assessment.

While the average increase in property assessments across the region was 11.76 per cent, regional district taxes per $100,000 of residential assessment have decreased in all municipalities and electoral areas for 2023.

In Prince George, the taxes decreased 6.1 per cent to $41.51 per $100,000 residential assessment. In Mackenzie, taxes are down 5.1 per cent to $49.23 per $100,000 residential assessment. Valemount will see a 15.8 per cent decrease at $188.87 per $100,000 residential assessment. McBride will see a decrease of 8.2 per cent at $319.90.
