Four penalties have been handed out in Prince George, so far in 2011, by the Liquor Control and Licensing Branch.

The provincial liquor regulator issued one fine and three business suspensions to the penalized operators.

The longest suspension was applied to the Alternate Pub. The neighbourhood pub in Pineview was closed down in March.

The penalty stemmed from a Dec. 11 incident in which they were found in contravention of three regulations:

Allowing customers to consume liquor beyond liquor service hours

Failing to take liquor from patrons by time required

Permitting intoxicated person to remain

"Each garnered a four-day suspension," The Citizen was told by a LCLB spokesperson.

The Riverstone Bar and Grill will soon begin a four-day closure, scheduled to run May 27 to 30. That related to a Dec. 11 discovery by officials of a single infraction: permitting an intoxicated person to remain.

The same infraction was also assessed to the Coast Inn of the North on Dec. 11 for which they were fined $6,000.

The Croft Hotel was also found to be in contravention of the "permitting intoxicated person to remain" rule, discovered by authorities on Jan. 29.

They served a four-day closure from March 12 to 15.

The spokesperson said investigations are ongoing in Prince George and area to pinpoint infractions at any locations with a permit for serving alcohol.
