Several charges have been laid against a Prince George man after police seized drugs and a firearm from a local home.

Members of the Prince George RCMP's Drug Section executed a search warrant at a residence in the 2400 block of Oak Street on Feb. 22.

Upon entry to the home, officers located and arrested four occupants. A search of the property turned up a small amount of cocaine, drug trafficking paraphernalia and .25 calibre semi-automatic handgun and ammunition. In Canada, that type of gun is classified as a prohibited weapon.

Shane Arthur Wilson, 33, who has an extensive criminal record and is known to associate with organized crime groups has had several charges approved by Crown Counsel. These include unauthorized possession of a firearm, possessing a prohibited firearm with ammunition, possession of firearm contrary to order, breach of recognizance and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Charges are being considered for the three other adults believed to be involved.

Wilson has been held in custody until his next scheduled appearance at Prince George Provincial Court on Feb. 28.

The RCMP would like to thank the citizens of Prince George for their continued efforts and support in combating drug trafficking in the community.
